A Double Challenge: In the next few decades, modern human society will face having to drastically reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and on energy consumption in general. Worldwide, experts agree the best way to decrease the energy our buildings consume is to increase and improve insulation in all buildings, which will then require less energy for heating and cooling. Current insulation materials and approaches were developed over half a century ago during a period of extremely cheap sources of energy. That same half-century has also seen the accumulation of a scourge that, we are now realizing, is beginning to threaten the very basis of the food chain on Earth – the massive accumulation of discarded plastics in our oceans and landfills.

Our initial research indicates that in as little as three years, Insulastics patented “sandwich” designs could be licensed to key manufacturers to generate a new wave of superior insulation products. Because of their unique method of manufacture, they can be formed and extruded into countless shapes and sizes for potentially hundreds of building applications.
